Linda

Thought I would give you a quick update. First thanks so much for your wonderful training, support and compassion on the course. Between us we have made a huge impact on mine and my families life. I made a new mantra while I was running today (a bit cheesy but it helps)!!!

I have continued to progress. I went running with Max on Wed evening, his face was a picture. I have lots of positives. A few negatives but positives came out of them as I managed to overcome them. Work went well, the visualisation was great. I took the duck but I was saying to Keith I think it would be good to have a yellow ball to hold if needed. He has ordered three yellow stress balls with smiley faces!!! My tough northern husband shed a tear! My children and colleagues say I just look different and keep smiling. I keep singing, which is not necessarily a good thing!

I am using the process a lot at the moment but am quite happy to do that if that is what is needed. I was busy this morning then was home alone and resting but started to think about aches and pains and felt tired. I decided I could have stay like that or push the boundaries, so I went for the latter and went for a run. I went further down the cycle path than I have been for 5 yrs even on a bike. It was wonderful I used to go there all the time. It is by a river and there are usually lots of swans. Over the years I have counted them and the most I have seen in one go has been 17 on a very early run once. Today I saw 21 just as I finished the run. It seemed symbolic to me. I have used that word a lot this week!

Thanks you again for your wonderful support.

After two weeks

Hi Kathy,

I hope you are well. Thanks very much for our chat last week, it was very helpful and my progress has increased since then. Well it is 2 week and one day since I started the lightning process training and I don’t recognise my life. I am having fun!!!

Today I worked for a full day, popped into town on the way home. Went for a 2 mile jog/walk with a lot more jogging than walking! After showering and dinner I did a bit of tidying and gardening and finally sat down at 9pm. Last night I camped in the garden with my daughter and slept solidly from 9.30pm to 6.20am. I am now feeling proper healthy tiredness and then feel awake and invigorated in the morning. As you know my son is travelling but I’ve managed to be calm about this and I’m just really happy and am not spending all my time fretting.

In the last 14 days I have ran for 12 days. I’ve been kayaking 3 times and cycled 5 miles! I worked until 5pm 4 days last week (Friday’s are half days) and felt fine, in the past staying to 5pm one day would floor me for several days. I am still a work in process but I know I will get to live the life I love. Not only has my life improved beyond belief but everyone around me has been affected by my improvement. I have driven my daughter to climbing twice and am going to book training to learn how to climb myself!!!!!

I cannot thank you enough for giving my life back.I am doing the process less each day but I’m quite happy to do the process as often and for as long as is needed. I will keep you up to date of my progress.

I cannot express how grateful I am.

Take care,

Linda

After six weeks

Hi Kathy

I hope you are well.

It’s about 6 weeks since I did the course and I don’t recognise my life!

I just wanted to let you know I have spent the last four days in Edale in the Peak District. I went up my first hill for 5 years on Sunday, it was an amazing feeling to get to the top. I have climbed 6 hills in 4 days. We went on a 6 mile walk to Mam Tor. It was pouring with rain but I couldn’t have been happier. Attached is the obligatory pic of me on the top of Mam Tor J Yesterday we walked around 9 miles (we didn’t plan to walk that far but decided not to wait for the train!!!). I still managed to go for a 2 mile run this morning. I now feel that I am well on the road to getting my life back and with persistence I know I will have the life I love. I know I keep saying this but I cannot thank you enough.

Take care,

Linda

After eight months

Hi Kathy,

I can’t believe it has been 8 months since I went on the training. My life is amazing now – not all plain sailing as life isn’t but I can deal with it now. The company where I work is closing which is very sad but I am able to deal with it rationally now rather than panic.

I have had an interview and the rehearsal worked great. Yesterday triggered me to write to you at last (I have been meaning to for 5 months). One of the things on my list was to climb with me daughter. Yesterday I drove 1.5.hrs each way to Sheffield and then climbed for 3hrs!! Attached is the proof. I’m aching all over now but it is a fantastic ache!

I’m still planning to run a marathon later this year. And to think before I did the training walking a mile with many rests was a major achievement. Keep doing the good work, it is amazing the impact you are having on people’s lives.

All the best

Linda

After one year

Hi Kathy

I can’t believe it is one year since I started the training. I remember the mixture of excitement and fear going down on the train wondering if this would be a turning point and of course it was.

The list is too long of all the things I have done in the last year. But basically I have my life back and some. I work full time without any problems. I run at least 5 times per week, I climb at least once a week and I cycle, kayak and walk whenever I get the opportunity. But the main thing is I’m happy and relaxed and have fun back in my life. I have two more things off my list to finish – back packing round Greece – that is planned for mid July and run a marathon, which I intend to do in October. It’s not like getting my old life back it is a new improved version of what I was. I am now happy and chilled as well as fit.

I cannot say enough how grateful I am for the impact you have had on my life.

Keep up the good work.

Linda

After sixteen months

Hi Kathy,

I am sorry I have not been in touch for so long. I thought it was time I gave you an update on my life after the lightning process! It has now been 16 months since I did the lightning process training with you and I have now completed my last two targets. This summer we went backpacking around Greece and had an amazing time. It completely lived up to expectations. We visited 4 islands and stayed at 10 different places in 14 nights. We climbed the highest mountain on one of the islands and slept on a beach one night!

My last one was to complete a marathon and I completed the Chester Marathon in Oct, I cannot tell you how happy I was after I had finished. I didn’t break any records – 5hrs 6 mins but I was happy with that, photo attached as proof! My target was to get back before the marshals packed up!!! I now plan to do a marathon in spring as a training run for a 50 miler in summer (I will be 50 next year so it makes sense :))

I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to have such a fun and full life now and to be able to do activities with my family. I now regularly climb with my daughter.

Take care and keep up the good work.

linda53 years after Linda did LP she kindly updates us …

Dear Kathy,
I can’t believe it but it is 3yrs since I have done the lightning process with you. Not only have you changed my life immeasurably but I have recommended you to 4 other people and their lives have changed dramatically for the positive.
I was barely functioning when I did the lightning process with you. I now work full time as a project manager. I climb twice a week, cycle to work 7 miles each way twice a week, regularly kayak and hike and do any other activity I get the opportunity to do.
As with most people in the last 3 years there have been some difficult times, I have been made redundant, my parents have been ill and I have had to have two operations but I have been able to deal with everything that has been thrown at me.
I now have an active, fun, rewarding life – I will never be able to thank you enough.
The lightning process is a long term solution, not a quick fix and I know I will be able to use it for the rest of my life.
Keep up the good work,
Linda
